About the project:

Safe, inclusive spaces that promote social well-being and a sense of belonging are limited in the North Dumfries Township. We aim to provide a new space located in the North Dumfries Community Complex that youth of all ages can access for not only social and recreational programs, but also mental health and well-being programs.

Our space will need items to attract new youth to the space, which is why we are requesting a multi-purpose pool table as well as equipment to establish a STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Math) program for older youth. The pool table will serve as both a recreational and relationship-building tool, encouraging social connection, teamwork, and stress relief in a safe, supervised space. The addition of STEAM equipment such as robotics kits, coding tools, and creative tech resources, will allow youth to explore innovation and develop future-ready skills through hands-on learning opportunities.

Investing in this project will support the social, cognitive, and creative development of teens through accessible, engaging, and inclusive programming. These items will help us offer balanced programming that supports both play and learning, empowering youth to build confidence, discover new interests, and feel a stronger sense of belonging within our community.

Where will the project take place:

This project will take place in the Township of North Dumfries. Individuals who will benefit from this project live in Ayr, Plattsville, Drumbo and surrounding rural communities.
